Our feature speaker for May 6 will be former Amb. Hannah Rosenthal, who served for three years  (2009-2012) as a U.S. State Department’s Special Envoy to lead the Office to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism that is located within the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.

Established by Congressional mandate in 2004, the Office seeks to raise the visibility of the scourge of anti-Semitism and to counteract the belief that nothing can be done to eradicate it. Rosenthal’s leadership in carrying out the mandate as a way to advance U.S. foreign policy had its successes and disappointments; her talk will elaborate on the mission of the Office, the challenges of her position and the continuing commitment to diminish world-wide “the longest hatred.”
