Presenter:  Mike Piskur, Program Director of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Governors and Premiers will present:  Managing Water Across Eight States, Two Provinces and Two Countries - "Hey, it actually worked!"

Consensus is often difficult to achieve in the political arena.  Yet, one agreement - The Great Lakes Compact - survived 8 state legislatures, 2 Canadian Provinces, and the U.S. House and Senate, before heading to the U.S. President's desk for signature, with 95% of officials voting for support.  The Compact stands as a recent success story where consensus was built for the benefit of our people, economy, and environment - and still maintains broad support today.

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers organization unites the chief executives from 8 U.S. States and 2 Canadian Provinces to work as equal partners to grow the region's $6 trillion economy and protect the world's largest system of surface fresh water.  Hear Mr. Piskur speak regarding lessons learned about cross border policy and cooperative projects in the works.
